Stephen E. Matasich

Stephen is the Chair of Day Ketterer’s Workers’ Compensation Practice Group.  For more than 20 years, he has defended self-insured and state-fund employers, including both private and public entities, in workers’ compensation claims.  He also regularly works with and advises Third-Party Administrators (TPAs) and Managed Care Organizations (MCOs) in such matters.

In addition to regularly defending clients before state administrative agencies and Courts of Common Pleas, Stephen and Day Ketterer’s Workers’ Compensation group work proactively to assist employers in reducing workers’ compensation claims and costs and provide training in a variety of areas, including claims management and effective accident investigation.

He has successfully handled hundreds of OSHA investigations for Ohio manufacturers, retailers, and construction companies.  Stephen is among a small number of Ohio attorneys having received OSHA’s 30-hour training courses in both general industry and construction.  Being experienced to seamlessly handle all aspects of a workplace injury claim, Stephen’s familiarity with cases eliminates the need for repetitive investigation and duplicated services – saving his clients time and money.

As an employment attorney, he is frequently trusted to represent employers in employment intentional torts, employer liability, retaliatory discharge, wrongful discharge, whistleblower claims, industrial accidents, occupational claims, mandamus actions, and VSSRs.  Stephen’s litigation practice also entails representing northeast Ohio hospitals in medical malpractice and nursing negligence claims, as well as insurance defense.
